The ARAM Map in League of Legends has always been a chaotic and fun playground for LoL players who prefer fast-paced, teamfight-heavy games. But now, Riot Games is taking ARAM to a whole new level. In their latest developer update, Riot unveiled massive changes coming to the mode, including the introduction of multiple ARAM maps, a brand-new Champion Card system, and other gameplay tweaks designed to keep things fresh and exciting.

For the first time in League of Legends history, ARAM will no longer be tied to just one map. Instead of endlessly running across the familiar Howling Abyss, players will now rotate between three distinct ARAM maps, each with its own visuals and gameplay twists. The map selection is random so you now have one more reason to be excited to queue in ARAM instead of randomly chosen champions.

- Koeshin’s Crossing: a Spirit Blossom-themed arena inspired by the lush and mystical aesthetic of Ionia. Riot Games has introduced bright flora, water streams running across the lane, and two big trees in the middle that make this map feel more open and mysterious. It’s a stunning visual departure from the traditional frozen bridge. However, the changes are not purely visual. The two trees in the middle serve as a new way of gameplay. Each one has a portal that players can use to teleport from one side of the lane to the other. This will serve for some interesting plays in action.
- Butcher’s Bridge: a gritty, pirate-style map first introduced as a limited-time ARAM skin. This version is enhanced with a few unique mechanics, like a Power Flower that grants a small shield and cooldown reduction, similar to what it does in Arena. cannon launchers for quick repositioning. It’s chaotic, punchy, and perfect for aggressive plays.
- Howling Abyss: remains in rotation. Riot made it clear that players can still enjoy the classic ARAM experience without missing out on the new content. This one has no new gameplay mechanics and we respect that. Not all ARAM games should be a struggle to outplay the Zed mains and the tank enthusiasts.
The Champion Card System Replaces Rerolls
Along with the new maps, Riot is overhauling how players select their champions in ARAM. The old reroll system, where you would spend reroll currency to swap a random champ, is being replaced by a new feature called Champion Cards.
At the start of champ select, each player now receives two champion cards. You get to choose one of the two, while the other card is placed on a shared bench that your teammates can use. Occasionally, you’ll receive a third option which, as far as we know, is a lucky draw. This system allows for more strategy and teamwork, without taking away the “all-random” identity of ARAM.
Importantly, this change minimizes the frustration of always dealing with certain champions. The bench feature encourages coordination—maybe your teammate wants a mage, and you’ve got one to spare. Champion Cards promote smarter decisions while still keeping that element of unpredictability that ARAM players love.
