Did you think our all-time-favorite champions were left uncared for while the new ones are thriving in Summoner’s Rift? Well, it might seem so in some cases but Riot Games does release some huge reworks for champions from time to time. Right now, there’s a big VFX rework for Varus on PBE for the 11.23 cycle and it makes our fable marksman flashier than ever.
According to Surrender@20, the news was first delivered by RiotSirhaian on Reddit, where he said the following:
Similar to the previous VFX updates we’ve made in the past (Syndra, Zilean, Malzahar, etc), we’re working on updates to the Visual Effects (VFX) of champions whose spell effects are in need of some love. Our aim is to get their VFXs to current League standards and improve gameplay clarity.
This time, it’s Varus‘s turn, for 11.24‘s PBE Patch!
Just like all the previous ones, and since these are smaller updates geared toward sprucing up some of the oldest members of the roster, they aren’t in the same prioritization conversation as to how we decide who gets a VGU (where we take model, gameplay, and thematic into account too!): they do not affect any other timeline, and are simply dev passion projects.
Here’s a video preview of the changes. As usual, the more recent the skins are, the less changes they are getting. His most recent skins only received very minimal tweaks (or not at all).
The main goal we had for this one VFX Update was to improve clarity, especially for his Q and R missile widths.
Take a look at all of Varus’ skins after the VFX rework in the video below:
