Round 3 of Worlds 2023 is now over, giving us a big run for our predictions. After today’s contention matches, we have two teams leaving the championship after finishing 0-3. Team Liquid and Team BDS are officially out of Worlds 2023.
Unlike previous days when games were celebrated in Worlds 2023, today wasn’t that great for either the LCS or the LEC. Two teams failed to secure a win in the third round of the Swiss stage, leaving prematurely. Team Liquid is the first team to be leaving Worlds, after a 1-2 against GAM, who proved that they are a force to be feared. Although TL managed to secure a convincing win in the second game, They didn’t expect Kiaya and Levi to be stomping the third game with their K’Sante and Wukong.
On the other hand, Team BDS had a much bigger foe to overcome. DK, with former champion Deft and Worlds 2020 superstar Showmaker for sure isn’t an opponent that offers free wins. To get through the obstacle, Team BDS tried to surprise their enemy with a Volibear for Adam in the top lane and a Blitzcrank for Labrov in the support role. Although the draft wasn’t in favor of BDS, the element of surprise sometimes wins big games. This wasn’t the game though as DK was prepared for everything. In the second game, BDS went along with the meta flow, this too wasn’t enough.
As a result, both Team Liquid and Team BDS are out of Worlds 2023 contention, sending DK and GAM to a game against each other in the 1-2 pool. It will be interesting to see if GAM will be prepared to face DK or if the Worlds 2023 dark horse will march onwards to the top-8 phase of the tournament.
