A new rumor started circling today about Rekkles, the iconic former Fnatic AD Carry, joining the T1 Esports Academy in the support role. The decision comes as a positive outcome for the player, as his role swap might prove difficult for him to rejoin the LEC that fast.
According to prominent LoL Esports leaker, LEC Wooloo took to his personal blog today to share news coming from their close sources. Their sources claim that Martin “Rekkles” Larsson has already reached an agreement to join the T1 Esports Academy, after being spotted several times close to the T1 headquarters in Seoul.
Future-wise, this seems to be the best option for Rekkles at this point. His roleswap from ADC to support, came with a shaky future for him in the LEC. Joining an ERL team in Europe and grinding from there is the easy way to go. However, Martin is setting the bar high by joining the LCK Academy Tournament.
It will be interesting to see how a European player will fit into a Korean team in a competitive environment. For what it’s worth, Rekkles is a veteran player with tons of knowledge to share. As for his solo queue, it wouldn’t be hard for a player of his caliber to fit right in since many EU and NA players join Korean boot camps in order to limit-test their skills in the Korean ladder.
For the time being, we need to wait until an official confirmation from either Rekkles or the T1 organization surfaces online. Until then, take the news with a grain of salt as with any rumor about player transfers and contracts.
