Riot Games has just announced the changes for the next League of Legends season and it comes with a massive list of additions to Summoner’s Rift and the in-game items. One of the biggest changes that is coming to LOL in Preseason 2024 is Baron Nashor. Baron is getting a big revamp, with multiple terrain variations, a new look, and a buff to camps when it spawns. Let’s take a look at the Baron changes together.
Baron Looks
In Season 2024, Baron Nashor gets three variations that give him both visual and terrain variations. There are three versions of Baron: Hunting, Territorial Baron, and the All-Seeing Baron. These are his three looks:
Baron Terrain
The three Baron versions don’t just come in different shapes just for looks. Depending on each Baron variation, the terrain around him will change, creating different contention scenarios. The three terrain variations are:
Hunting Baron Terrain
The Hunting Baron variation is the classic one we all know. The pit will be unchanged and the Baron will sit in the middle as always. Right there, looking as glorious as ever. Hunting Baron uses lightning from the above type of ability, so you will definitely need some time to adjust to his new mechanics.
Territorial Baron Terrain
This Baron version will create a tunnel in front of the pit, creating the most wall space that you can find in between the three. This variation creates perfect placement for close-space team fights and champions like Illaoi, Gnar, and Qiyana will greatly benefit from this wall formation. As his ability, the Territorial Baron pulls nearby champions towards him.
All-Seeing Baron Terrain
The last version of Baron is possibly the most difficult one to navigate as a small wall right in front of him blocks the vision of incoming champions. This wall, although small, can also create new ways to team fight and stop opponents from escaping. As an attack, the All-Seeing Baron creates a void rift that deals damage over time to opponents.
Baron Spawn Mechanic
Apart from what is happening inside and around the pit, Baron Nashor actively impacts the entire Summoner’s Rift. According to the official announcement, as soon as Baron tears through the Rift in 20 minutes, several jungle monsters will get buffed up, offering some sweet powerups to the team that manages to take them down.
For instance, the Red and Blue buffs will become stronger and might require more than 2 players to kill. However, the buff is now shared with all teammates who helped in taking them down. In addition, the Voidborn Scuttler will give the team that takes it down a big Scryer Bloom effect that will reduce the life of any wards revealed by it to 1HP.
We will share more info about how the new Baron Nashor works as soon as he hits the PBE server.
