Getting error codes in League of Legends sure is annoying. More so, if you can find no solutions for them. In the case of Error Code 004, you can use some of our suggestions below on your League of Legends client.
If you find yourself stuck with a League of Legends Error Code 004, there are a few ways to tackle the issue and get the client up and running again.
Run League of Legends as an Administrator
The first thing you’ll need to do is run the game as an Administrator. You can do that either by setting default administrator rights through the application’s settings or by right-clicking on League of Legends and choosing “Run as administrator”.
Free Up Space on your HDD/SSD
Sometimes, it takes such an easy fix to get your client running. If your hard drive is low on storage, the client might be failing to load. Give it a look before you move on to the next fixes.

Delete LoL’s Config Files
Go to your Riot Games folder, in which League of Legends is installed. In there, you’ll find a folder called League of Legends. Clicking that will take you to yet another folder named Config. Inside that there’s a file named ‘game.cfg’. Delete that and try running the game once more.
Use Hextech Repair Tool
To get the Hextech Repair Tool, you’ll need to navigate to this link and download the application for your respective system. You’ll need to wait quite a bit for the tool to scan through your game files but it’s your best bet to fixing the issue.
Reinstall League of Legends
If all else fails, you can always uninstall and install League of Legends again. We know it’s a huge pain but this will most definitely solve the problem.
