Worlds 2023 is officially over, handing over the Championship trophy back to T1 for their fourth title. After a long season full of ups and downs for the team, Faker can add another title to his name and Keria can forget the hardships of last year’s Worlds tournament. Ladies and gentlemen, T1 is your 2023 Worlds champion!
In yesterday’s series of T1 against LPL 4th seed Weibo Gaming, we couldn’t expect anything less than a good League of Legends. Both teams went in to claim it all. However, the gap between the two teams became apparent when it meant the most. T1 came into the series prepared to give it all. Even though Weibo tried to pin down and stop the unkillable demon king, T1 was more than ready for the test.
Zeus quickly became a menace in the side lanes while Gumayushi and Faker peeled off the health out of their opponents. Oner, stepping up with his Lee Sin and Nocturne picks terrorized the counter jungle while Keria was ready to make the big plays and give us the game of his life.
On the other side, Weibo didn’t manage to step up the game and find a win against their opponents. TheShy, although coming with huge expectations into this series, didn’t manage to secure a victory for his team. In fact, we did want to see this series go into 5 games and have a banger final. However, this comes as ground for the team to improve and come back stronger next year, much like T1 did last year.
Who would have thought that the same team that almost didn’t make it to playoffs last season, won it all in the Worlds championship? After Faker’s absence from the LCK back in July, the team bounced back in a meaningful way. Even though the LCK title went in favor of JDG, it only gave T1 one more reason to become the 2023 world champion.
And with that, we wrap up this year’s Worlds championship and we renew our date for next year, in Europe. According to latest information, the grand final will take place in London so stay tuned for more news on that front later next year.
