Work at Riot Games never stops and it comes to no surprise that a brand new project might have come to light. According to multiple leak sources, Riot Games is working on a trading card game (TCG) in the world of Runeterra, named Rune Battlegrounds. May we say, that we are getting a League of Legends TCG before the next GTA 6?
The rumor started circling yesterday through multiple leak sources like ValorantINTEL, Big Bad Bear and LeagueofLeaks. The leak video, originating presumably from BiliBili, features several icons, League of Legends champions and, last but not least, a player holding a physical League of Legends card.

It doesn’t come as a surprise that Riot Games is moving in such a direction since the world of TCG is an endless field of fandom. After the huge success of Disney’s Lorcana and the new One Piece TCG, it makes sense for one of the biggest video game franchises to join the show. In reality, League of Legends has more than 100 million fans over the years, so it makes sense for a good percentage of them to support such a project. If not for competitive reasons, then for sure for the collectability.
For the time being we have close-to-zero information on Riot Games’ alleged TCG, Rune Battlegrounds. The only piece of info we get is through is through the BiliBili video, claiming that the card game is set to release in 2025. Leaker ValorantINTEL goes one step further to claim that this 2025 release window is on a global scale.
