You might have already noticed that League of Legends has a secret new feature inside Summoner’s Rift, one that might spell a new era for the game. Just in time for Worlds 2023, Riot Games has introduced a new custom announcer to LoL. Did you hear it in-game?
What is the LoL Custom Announcer?
The LoL custom announcer is easy to miss when you first log inside Summoner’s Rift. Basically, it’s the same voice but with a cheering background sound, giving your games a taste of world championship glory. You can hear the background cheering in multi-kills and objectives like dragons, Baron Nashor, and turret destructions.
Even though the tweaks to the classic announcer are minor, it does pump up the hype for the Worlds 2023 championship.
How to Enable the LoL Custom Announcer?
You can enable or disable the featured announcer through the in-game settings menu. Navigating to the Sound settings, you can see the “Disable custom announcer”, which is by default in-use. Clicking on the option will disable the custom cheering, so make sure that the checkbox is not filled so that you can hear the custom effects.
Custom announcers are a classic feature of similar to League of Legends MOBA titles like Dota 2 and Heroes of the Storm. It would be interesting to see if Riot Games intends to bring back more custom announcers like the current one in future events. For instance, we could get a Star Guardian or a Pentakill one or even get some famous esports casters to voice-act announcer lines in Summoner’s Rift. How could would it be to have Captain Flowers as an in-game announcer?
