After a short best-of-5 series in the LEC Summer 2023 Finals, G2 Esports is the champion once more. Even though we would love to see a banger 5-game series, G2 has shown once more that they are patient, consistent and that they always deliver a good performance even if it results in a loss.
G2 ESPORTS – EXCEL | Game 1
G2 Esports managed to get an early game advantage by finding favorable fights, without giving Excel time to breathe. Apart from an early lead to Peach’s Maokai, game 1 was pretty much one-sided with Hans Sama and Caps finding openings to catch Excel off guard and finish them off.
G2 ESPORTS – EXCEL | Game 2
In a similar fashion, G2 Esports managed to get an early advantage and a steady lead in kills. However, Excel masterfully stayed close in gold, keeping themselves in-game just enough for us to think that they might offer an upset. However, some bad decisions on Excel’s front gave G2 that much-needed second win.
EXCEL – G2 ESPORTS | Game 3
Excel seemed to be adapting to the series fine by changing their draft a bit but the outcome in-game didn’t matter. This version of Excel is strong and can compete for the higher spots in the LEC but not with their finals opponent just yet. G2 Esports is patient, precise and leave zero chance for mistakes so it was only natural for the third game to end in a win for them as well. After this win, G2 Esports is the LEC Summer Finals 2023 champion.
Both teams will MAD Lions, BDS, Fnatic & SK in the Season Finals which start on August 19th. We’ll see the brackets in detail in the days to come.
