The off-season for al major League tournaments is close to an end and Riot Games has just announced the start date for the LEC, the League of Legends European Championship. According to the announcement, the new LEC split starts on January and will include two rough super weeks. In addition, we get the playoffs start date as well.
The announcement comes from the official LolEsports website. We only have one a half months before we can head straight into the action. The announcement reads:
After an incredible year in 2021, our League of Legends European Championship teams are heading back to the Rift for Spring 2022! As previously announced, Spring will begin on the main stage on 14 January 2022, and now we can reveal when the Playoffs will take place, along with the start dates for the newly revamped ERLs and Amazon European Masters.
Here are the key dates for 2022 Europe League of Legends esports scene, including the start date for the LEC:
- LEC 2022 Spring kicks off on 14 January 2022 and will once again feature two Superweeks
- The Spring Playoffs start on 25 March, with the Finals planned for 9-10 April – all taking place in the LEC Studio in Berlin
- Accredited ERLs start on the week of 10 January, with Non-Accredited ERLs kicking off the following week commencing 17 January
- The Amazon European Masters Spring starts on 4 April and finishes up on 8 May
This particular LEC split will be rather interesting since we have a new team joining the battle, after the exit of Schalke 04 and the acquisition by Team BDS. More so, since the team has signed one of the best coaches in the LEC, G2 Esports’ former coach Grabbz. In addition, we have major roster changes in some of the league’s best teams like G2 Esports, which changes its 3 out of 5 members, keeping only Jankos and Caps. Fnatic and Vitality are also making huge roster changes while we still have to see what the rosters for MAD Lions and Rogue will be like at the start of the split.
