Huge news for the world of LCK was announced today as former SKT T1and Vici gaming head coach Kkoma joins DAMWON Gaming for the next competitive season. The announcement comes from Damwon’s Twitter account, with the team citing Jung’s achievements over the years. A huge acquisition for a huge team that has proven its worth by becoming the new world champion after beating Suning last month.
The official announcement about Kkoma joining DAMWON reads:
Hello. From 2021, head-coach ‘kKOma’ Kim Jung-gyun has joined DAMWON Gaming. Under the leadership of head-coach Kim Jung-gyun, who has taken 13 trophies since 2013 by winning eight times LCK, twice MSI, and three times World Cups, we will continue to create the success story of Damwon Gaming. Please support head-coach Kim Jung-gyun and look forward to Damwon Gaming. Thank you.
Over the next few weeks, all teams will reveal their full rosters. However, none of the already announced changes come to as much surprise as this one. Kkoma is popular as the superstar coach of SKT, scoring 3 Worlds championships, 2 MSI and 8 total LCK trophies. This is by far the most a coach has done for a team in the League of Legends esports history and we can’t wait to see what his future will be with DAMWON Gaming.
Let’s not forget that DAMWON too is in a vary good state right now. After a huge Worlds run with them becoming the new world champion, the team is preparing its roster for the next split. However, we don’t think any more changes to the roster must be done as all DAMWON players are “beasts”.
Also, it will be interesting to see how other LCK teams will adapt to this announcement and whether or not DAMWON will have some if any competition next season. Whatever the case, next year in LCK will be a total bloodbath.
